Mendota Heights-based concrete maker Cemstone expects to complete construction this fall of a new ready-mix batch plant in Hayward, Wis.
Currently, the family-owned company is building the approximately 1,200 square foot satellite plant on a 10-acre Highway 63 site, two miles south of downtown Hawyard.
Steve Becken, vice president of Cemstone Ready Mix, said Monday that the new plant will better serve the company’s customers in northern Wisconsin.
“The plant we are putting up is moving from one location (Haugen, Wis.) to another location [Hayward],” he said, noting that Sawyer County is a hub for commerce as well as tourism.
