More Duluth road projects start this week

Motorists can add a couple more projects to the long list of street and highway work under way around Duluth.
The city is starting concrete pavement rehabilitation projects on 24th Avenue West and 19th Avenue East this week. The projects will require workers to close off parts of the avenues as sections of concrete are replaced and repaired.

“They will be sawing out — sometimes full-depth — concrete that is bad,” said Pat Mlakar, the project engineer on the project. “In some places they can grind off the top 3 or 4 inches and put a patch on it. It all depends on the condition of the concrete.”

Patching the roads now will delay the need for more extensive and expensive repairs.
