New (Wisc.) DNR staff to focus on frac sand mining

Two engineers are learning the ins and outs of silica sand mining as new employees of the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources. The state Legislature approved the hiring of Tanner Connors and Frederick Myron Smith to focus on environmental compliance of industrial sand mines in Wisconsin as part of Gov. Scott Walker’s biennial budget.
