Contractors, safety experts weigh in on truck limits on roads

The truck weight debate is raging again at the State Capitol.

Aggregate suppliers, road builders and others are asking Minnesota lawmakers to allow heavier trucks on the roads to hasten and streamline delivery of commodities, including construction materials. But the group faces strong opposition from others who insist that the change would make the highways less safe and cause further strain on a deteriorating network of roads and bridges.
