MnDOT: Questions answered, Elk Run interchange gets OK


After speaking with developers of the long-delayed Elk Run project, the Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT) is going ahead with construction of a multimillion-dollar, taxpayer-funded interchange nearby.

Tower Investments has repeatedly failed to meet its own deadlines regarding construction at Elk Run, a 2,325-acre development in the southeastern Minnesota city of Pine Island. Elk Run is envisioned as a mixed use development that will contain a bio-business park, as well as housing, a medical center and a wellness center.

An interchange on nearby Highway 52 would be vital to the development’s success, but several southern Minnesota residents have been questioning why the state is investing in an interchange now, when the development appears to be continually delayed.
