In the news: Minnesota's bridges and transportation system

Finance & Commerce has an article today about a report from Transportation for America, an advocacy group based in Washington, D.C. that ranks Minnesota 16th in the country when it comes to the overall condition of its 13,068 highway bridges. Learn more about the organization and access the report, Dangerous By Design, here.

In a related story, the local field organizer for Transportation for America, Andrea Kiepe, had an opinion piece in the March 20 edition of the Duluth News Tribune about how state roads are getting worse. She and co-author Dave Engstrom of the Minnesota Association of Small Cities referred to recent MnDOT data and wrote, "MnDOT expects the quality of our highways to get even worse statewide."

For a limited time, you can access the opinion piece on the Duluth News Tribune Web site.
