Construction is rebounding in noticeable ways this year, but it’s geographically spotty and not uniformly benefiting all builders.
Architects, engineers and contractors say there’s a growing sense of hope, but optimism remains guarded. Some are concerned that public sector spending will decline, said LHB CEO William Bennett, because political agendas have become more conservative. Meanwhile, most federal stimulus projects are nearing completion, and it’s unlikely more public money will be spent.
