Bias, confusion and frustration over frac mine assessment
Several county residents are upset that an environmental assessment worksheet on frac sand mining in Houston County is being done by a company with ties to a fracking company working in the county. At the Oct. Houston County Board of Commissioners meeting, those residents expressed their concerns that work being done by G-Cubed is in conflict because of the company's ties with Minnesota Sands. In August, the board approved the EAW for the silica sand mine owned by Minnesota Sands on the Tracie Erickson property near the Houston-Fillmore County line.
